I Want One...

A few weeks ago, well actually months ( my time flies) I made a red purse for my daughter for her birthday. The neighbours little girl was here and said "I Want one". I then asked her when her birthday was and it was this month. I told he rperhaps she would get one for her birthday.

Time was getting close now and the kids were finally back in school ( I get nothing done with the kids out for summer break) I chose a pattern and then actually decided on this pattern instead. I altered it slightly, as I typically do. It is a small clutch/over the shoulder style purse.

The pattern I used was from Blue Calla - the Gerbera Mini Crossbody Bag.
I did not do the gusset bottom.

Inside I did a small zippered side pocket and added a little dragonfly charm to the pull.

The back is pretty plain.

 I die cut some fabric into flower layers and added a rivet to attach to the outside for fun. The shoulder strap is removable.

She did get it in time for her birthday, unfortunately I was not there to see her reaction, but her mom said she liked it and so did she.

CASE of the Birthday Note Card

 My hubby asked me to make his mother a birthday card, so I went to Pinterest and said pick something out that looks like a card you would give her. He picked one similar to this. Of course I couldn't make it exactly, 1. I wouldn't have same supplies and 2. that would be unfair to make exactly to the original artist. I love his choice as it is a style I enjoy.

The sentiment is stamped in permanent Black ink. and then several hearts are added on pop ups to add dimension to it.

The tag is attached to the twine wrapped around the note page. A sentiment is also stamped in black permanent ink and another heart added to tie it all together.

I added sponged vintage photo ink around the edges of the elements except the hearts (oops).

Little Red Handbag

I recently started making handbags. It is very fun to do and I have always enjoyed learning new craft things. This bag is for my daughter, when she found out I made a handbag for myself she stated she wanted one. I told her perhaps for her birthday!

 This handbag is my own design but was inspired by a picture of a bag style she sent to me. This bag is really not much like the bag picture but I was pleased that I was able to duplicate the handle attachment as it was quite unique. The inside has a recessed zippered closure.

 There are also slot pockets on one side and a side zippered pocket on the other side on the inside of the bag.

 The bag is a good size and had handles for carrying and also has a  detachable shoulder strap. The shoulder strap does not need to be removed as it can be tucked inside the bag and does not show. It has a firm bottom with bag feet as well.

 It is soft sided, but could easily be made rigid by the addition of a firmer interfacing.

 My favorite part of the bag was the handle attachment and being able to figure out how to duplicate it from the picture sample she sent me.

Here she is receiving the bag and she was in love with it. I have to say when I seen her using it I felt so excited, cause then I knew she really did love it!

Leaf Confetti

A new die I have in the studio is called Leaf-Autumn and is it perfect for gift cards, fall decor, scrapbook page embellishments and this great leaf confetti.

The confetti will gently fall out of the bag as recipient removes gift

The bag tag/card was made using the leftovers from my store anniversary make-n-takes with the sentiment changed out to a Birthday sentiment.

The leaf die cuts were gently crumpled to look more like actual leaves and to add dimension

This is the Accucut die Leaf-Autumn in the smaller size. I also have the larger album sized die of this same leaf.

Happy Birthday-For a Man

Gears and locks and a watch, no frills and flowers on this card. Just a fun card for a man. This card has a slot inside to hold a gift card....perfect for any guy, since they can be hard to buy for at times.

Love how it turned out and love all the layers.

Oh! and looky looky...check it out! My hit counter is really , really close to 300,000 hits!

Cracker Box Birthday

Happy Birthday Sue,
I made her this adorable cracker box. I used Chocolate Chip cardstock for the box. I die cut a mini dress form and spool from the new Tim Holtz movers and shapers. I added ribbon and designer paper and gems to the dress form to make it look like a dress. Then added some flower accents.

The sentiment is from My Favorite Things and the Happy Birthday is a Stampin Up stamp. I added faux stitching to the outside of the label, which is also a Tim Holtz die, Labels I think. The box ends are tied with some Stampin Up Baja stitched grosgrain ribbon.

I added some black crochet cotton to the die cut spool to represent thread. Added a flower and a heart shaped button as well.

I love how it turned out. I filled it with an assortment of candies. I hope she liked it....she loves to sew.

It's Your Special Day

Here is a quick card I made as a birthday card. I simply matted black with a layer of designer paper. wrapped some satin ribbon around the card, die cut a black chipboard bird from Tim Holtz, then added a daisy and leaf. I finally added the sentiment.

Card for my Dad

This is the card I made for my Dad's birthday, but this could easily also be used for a Father's Day card.

I used soft suede for the card base and the textured layer is kraft. I used a cuttlebug embossing folder for the texture. I used sponging to distresses the edges and then also used a distress tools to further distress all edges.The textured layer is on dimensionals. I wrapped some twine around the layer and knotted it adding a metal key embellishment before attaching to the card base. I added a circle paper clip and then added a layered sentiment. I added a glimmer chip owl and as a final touch I added some glossy accents to the owl's eyes and beak.

I hope you enjoyed this card. It went together quite quickly.

It has been a while since I made a card, at least i t feel like quite a while.

100th Birthday!

My dad's mom just turned 100. What a milestone. She is even pretty active and alert for her age. It was a great day with lots of family and friends to celebrate. This card that I made for her, started out as a tag. I was trying one of Tim Holtz's techniques on the tag and then decided it would work well on the front of her card. The technique is called rusted enamel. Love It!

I decided to use one of my flowers. I chose the white one cause then I could glimmer mists to add a vintage touch. I used creme de chocolat. Added some string beads and a few feathers.

I do not have a picture of Grammie when she was young, to my knowledge there may not be any. So I came across this velum vintage photo of a lady and used it on the tag. I added some brown fibers and a small charm to the tag.

I then stamped the sentiment on a designer label die cut, sponged the edges and worked it until it was a bit tattered. then adhered it to the card. The base of the card is baja cardstock with brown distressing on the edges. I also stamped a wheel image along the lower edge using Stampin Up Very Vintage wheel, also in brown ink.

As a side note I hit 200 subscribers last night. Thank you all so much for the support you give to me on this blog and on YouTube and now also on Ustream. I will be doing something fun for that milestone just as soon as my class schedule settles a bit.

Birthday Cards

Just making some birthday cards and thought I would share them. This one uses the new bird and branch punch from Stampin Up. I love this punch! I embossed the background with swiss dots and then sanded them off a bit.

I added a small gem to the bird for it's eye. and tucked it behind the branch a bit for dimension, the bird, itself is on a dimensional.

I love how this one turned out! Do you see that big flower, I made my own felt flower. I simply bought some felt and die cut it with my big shot. I will be doing a fun tutorial on that so you can all see how simple it is and begin making your own felt wonders.

I added a craft button tied with some twine for the flower center.

This one is super simple, I punched a border along the lower edge but did not run it all the way to the edges. I stamper the cupcake and used glossy accents and stickles to add some dimension to it.

Of course you have to have a masculine card, so I made this one. I was given some vintage music paper and used a small piece for the matt layer, tearing the edges. Then used four curly label punches to form a square. Punched some circle presents and popped them up.
