100th Birthday!

My dad's mom just turned 100. What a milestone. She is even pretty active and alert for her age. It was a great day with lots of family and friends to celebrate. This card that I made for her, started out as a tag. I was trying one of Tim Holtz's techniques on the tag and then decided it would work well on the front of her card. The technique is called rusted enamel. Love It!

I decided to use one of my flowers. I chose the white one cause then I could glimmer mists to add a vintage touch. I used creme de chocolat. Added some string beads and a few feathers.

I do not have a picture of Grammie when she was young, to my knowledge there may not be any. So I came across this velum vintage photo of a lady and used it on the tag. I added some brown fibers and a small charm to the tag.

I then stamped the sentiment on a designer label die cut, sponged the edges and worked it until it was a bit tattered. then adhered it to the card. The base of the card is baja cardstock with brown distressing on the edges. I also stamped a wheel image along the lower edge using Stampin Up Very Vintage wheel, also in brown ink.

As a side note I hit 200 subscribers last night. Thank you all so much for the support you give to me on this blog and on YouTube and now also on Ustream. I will be doing something fun for that milestone just as soon as my class schedule settles a bit.

Carousel Trinket Box with My Flower!

One of the flowers I made used the same paper I used for my carousel trinket box and I thought it would look good on the top of the box. I think it looks fabulous on the box. You can check out the tutorial for the flower here. This box and flower are great together.

What a Response!

I posted pictures of some flowers I made yesterday and the response has been great. Many have asked for a tutorial and I have heard you. There will be two tutorials. One will be live on Ustream on Wednesday afternoon at 1 pm Atlantic time. It will be my first ever live show so be patient with me. I am hoping I will remember to record it. My Channel is NsSnowAngel.

The next tutorial will be on YouTube under the same channel name. The live broadcast will allow for questions about the process.

These are so fun and easy to make, I hope that you will catch the tutorial either on Ustream or YouTube and let me know what you think. The above flower has some Diamond Dust on the petals. it really sparkles in person.

I love this small blossom. Pictures never quite make them look as pretty as they are in person. It is on white cardstock, but is accented with some Olive vine Glimmer mist.

This is the center of the following larger flower before I added it. It would be pretty on it's own.

Oh, this one is my favorite so far. I love the colors and just the general look of this one.

Tammy's Flower

I love Prima flowers, but two things keeps me from having lots of varieties to work with, 1. They cost a fair bit and 2. I don't have easy access to them. My local scrapbook store carries a very limited supply, the next nearest stores are 1 -1 1/2 hours from home. And they have more selection but still limited. I have a fair amount of the E line style flowers, but there are so many more available, ones that look like real flowers.

I know lots of people are creating their own flowers and some are just as nice and even prettier than the store bought versions. This helps me some as I have been able to recreate some very nice flowers and will be doing a class on them soon. You can see those ones here. I, however, like to create my own flowers. Things I can says "yes" that is my creation. So, today the flower you see here is one of my creations. It is fairly simple to make. My son even loves them and thinks they are real flowers, he tries to smell them and says they are pretty. I used some retired Designer Paper to make them. The one above uses Bella Rose paper from SU.

I can't remember of the top of my head the name of this Designer Paper, but it is also from SU. This is the smaller version of the flower.

Here you can compare the size of each relative to each other. The smaller one is about 2" across and the larger about 4".

I would love to know what you think. If you like them let me know and I will do a tutorial for them.

Mini Milk Carrier

This adorable mini milk carrier was a free class I offered to the Sister at my church. You can put little treats inside the boxes, and they open just like a milk carton. My friend, discovered that if you can get three of these die cut shapes from one piece of cardstock if you cut it just right. Cut one 4 1/4" piece on the the 8 1/2" side, then cut the remaining piece in two at the 4 1/4" mark. This makes the bottom flaps shorter, but they will still close and completely cover the bottom opening. If these instructions aren't clear enough let me know. Thanks Irene for figuring that out!

The milk cartons are made using die cuts from a Sizzix die available from SU. The carrier I created myself based on the size of the milk carton.

I trimmed the carrier with the bird and branch punch pieces, also available from SU. I know dies are great but I love my punches too. This punch is so easy to use and it is sooo adorable. Love It!

March Tag Swap #2

Here are the other tags from the second swap I signed up for. This one for The Scrap Beach. Anyone can sign up. So, if this sound like fun, sign up yourself.

I used several Tim Holtz distress ink for the background. Then Glimmer misted the whole thing with Iridescent Gold. I stamped a sentiment stamp in Stazon Black. I clear embossed several butterflies with clear embossing powder with some glitter added. I added a gem flourish. Some layered Prima flowers with a gem brad center. They were also glimmer misted. I die cut a butterfly out of the Mariposa paper., sponged the edges and added a gems to the center for it's body. It is only adhered underneath the center so the wings are lifted up. I them stamped "everything" on white and punched out with my designer label punch.

I distressed the edges and the whole sentiment before attaching to the tag. I then added a couple small feathers behind the flowers and of course the fibers.

I had fun making these. I hope the recipients enjoy them as well.
