Christmas Pocket Planner

I have seen some planners made with file folders..but had not had a chance to attempt one of my own...until now. I am not sure who is the original person who came up with the idea to alter a file folder into a planner, but if you know who and let me know I will edit this post to include appropriate credit. Here is what I came up with. I used a legal sized folder but perhaps a regular sized one would work as well, since I cut a portion off one end.

This is what it looks like all closed up. There is SU silver elastic cording keeping it closed. I added a binding so it is more like a book.
Here is a peek at the inside. I am offering this as a class as well...but I will be using the current DS Christmas paper instead of Dashing DS paper shown here. I may also use a current stamp set to increase sales.

Above is the envelope I made for keeping tract of receipts. Below is the wish list...cause we all like an idea of what to get people we love and having a place to mark ideas down is perfect!

My Next Class...A Heritage Book!

Finally a New Post!

Hi Everyone,

It has been a long summer with my children home. I love them, but being a single mom sure has it's challenges. Anyways, here is a long overdue post...

I promised more pictures from my last class project so here you go...

This was the original picture I shared of the cover... both front and back covers are covered chipboard and the pages are cardstock. Not sure you get this...but this represents the beach line with the bluee as the water, the white as the waves hitting the shore and the beige as the sand.

All the shells are embossed and on dimensionals. The cord is Silver elastic cord. I think the rest is self explanatory. I sponge all my edges as a general rule. I love the look it gives to all projects.

Here is the first page which has a section that flips out to reveal more space for journaling...


The photo space on page 1 will hold a 4 x 6 picture without any cropping.

Page 2 was first embossed with white embossing powder using the Cheesecloth background stamp. I then used a piece of real cheesecloth to add dimension and give a place to tuck some sea shells.



Page three has a removable tag. I used a dimensional on the top corner of the tag pocket to make insertion and removal easier since the tag is embellished. There is also a double row of piercing along the pocket's top edge.


The tag shells are popped out on the top edge but taped along bottom edge, so tag does not catch on the pocket when inserting it, but has dimension added.

Page 4 is pretty basic..I tried to include a place for journalling on each page.



Here is page 5...This entire project has 30 heat embossed shells all cut out by hand. I ran this class twice with 7 in one class and 8 in the other. That is a lot of shells to cut out!

This page has the main shell embossed and cut out and popped up on dimensionals,

I used the jumbo eyelets here and threaded some twine to catch the shells in.


This last page has torn paper to add dimension and the illusion of sea shells buried in the sand.

Hope you enjoyed this project as much as my classes did. It was a huge project. It took me three times as long to prepare compared to my other classes, and took an hour longer at class, four hours each night. It did not seem to matter how much advance preparation I did, because the second class I did more advance prep and it still took four hours. I need to remember to keep my projects small, even though I am having fun designing.

Sea Shells ...

I love how this card turned out. Not sure if it is the color or the fact that it has a sea shell. It is a tiny bit tricky because of the floss ties. The shell in the cut-out is heat embossed with gold detail powder. All edges are sponged. The cut-out is done with a large square punch, repositioned to make opening the desired size. I think the only thing I might try differently on another card like this is that I would use dimensionals to pop up the shell. This card is not that old but already has some sun fading....I think it really works for the card.
This card was inspired from a card at a local craft store and was used for a wedding invite. The vellum here allows a sneak peak at the verse underneath. The birds are also heat embossed.
This verse is one of my favorites. It is not SU but I had to have it when I saw it. I believe it came from Heather's Stamping Haven.
Here is a picture of the back, just so you can see that the eyelets went all the way through. I think you could hide them in the layer the verse is one and then attach the verse to the card base, if them showing is an issue for you.

The Recipe:

Paper: More Mustard, printed vellum, printed paper
Ink: Versamark
Stamps: Stiple Shells, vers stamp from Heather's Stamping Haven
Other: Eyelets, floss(embroidery), Large Square punch, sponge, eyelet tool and setter


Well, that's it for now. I am not sure when my next post will be. I am having some day surgery tomorrow and I am told it is a fairly simple procedure but I have not had any surgery done since I was in high school, a very long time ago. I am a bit nervous but am praying everything will be fine. My sister is going to come stay with me for a couple of days while I recover. I won't be aloud to lift anything heavy and I have a baby that is over 20 pounds and not a year old yet. So, she will mostly be helping with him.

Her card is smaller than mine. I had to really play with the measurements to get it just so. I will tell all about my challenges with the card in the tutorial, and how I worked around them.

I had a request for a printed tutorial for the Brag book purse I posted a bit ago. So, since I had to take pictures for the tutorial for my friend, I was wondering if anyone would like me to also post the instructions here? If you do leave a comment and let me know.

Very simple thank you card. If you need a fast thank you then this might just work. Below you can see I used dimensionals to add pop to the card. I think I should have added one for the center circle as well, but oh well, this is fine. I think I would have also added score lines to the leaf veins to add effect as well. I like adding texture and dimension to cards...it all adds wonderful interest. I used my Crop-o-dile for effect as well.

Wedding Wishes

This is a bit of a case from Pine Feather . I don't know if it is a true case, cause not much is the same, but her card was definitely inspiration for this one. I used the CB swiss dots folder on the White CS but I wish now that I would have used it on the Certainly Celery layer as it does not really show up well on the current layer.
The cardstock is the same color as the card base but the lighting makes it look completely different. Sorry for my bad photography. Here is the inside saying... Here is a side view so you can see all the dimension in this card. The heart is a Sizzix die. I used both pieces, the outside piece is embossed with glitter. the inside piece is on a dimensional
